An Open Exhibition of Bagel Inspired Art
We hosted an open call exhibition at 99 Reasons, where 22 artists showcased their art, poetry, sculpture, live music, edible art, games and more. There was also a plant based menu that sold out and received rave reviews.
We also made the first prototype of the instrument, featuring five MIDI controlled bagels that allowed the user to play a theremin, bass, drums and bugle.
An Open Exhibition Inspired by Memories
In December 2024, we hosted another exhibition night, this time inspired by Memories. We again shared an open call and received even more interest, with over 40 local artists showcasing with us a range of work from visual art to performances, live music, storytelling and poetry.
We also created a fully customisable plant-based packed lunch menu with a unique toy in each. There were games with prizes and other surprises, a beautiful celebration of creativity and connection through memory.
The night was rounded off by us showcasing the latest instrument prototype, where we invited the audience to interact and play with it.
The Memory Instrument
Inspired by the past, this prototype instrument uses fidget spinners to make soft ambient pads, a Wallace and Gromit themed theremin to sing a melody and a hand sensor, to strum a synthesised guitar.
Acoustic instruments like the kalimba and slinky adds a naturalistic element and the sampled drum machine and secret buttons allow the user to make rhythmic beats.
We reached out to the community and received voice notes of memories from friends and strangers, to share in the beauty of the world, the mundane and our interconnectedness.
Spinning Plates
We have also hosted two small plate nights at 99 Reasons, with menus inspired from different parts of the world; where we have showcased how plant based food can be nutritious, delicious and affordable.
We also introduced a communal music element to the night by asking the community to bring their own records to play throughout the night.
